 About Me  ... Richard Esquinas

My life has been full of simple, unusual, and large American experiences with a backdrop of an early, earnest and uninterrupted daily Japa Yoga practice for over 30 years.  I bring to my students a depth and diversity to share yogic living.

MY AMERICAN EXPERIENCES
Growing up, I had a unique childhood being one of 8 in a large catholic family. I grew up during the civil rights movement in an economically challenged neighborhood, was a first generation graduate from college and paid for it on my own nickel.  I lived and worked the New York City Advertising scene making a contribution to college catalog publishing. Then, I went on to significantly contribute to the world of Academic-Athletic advising, all the way to being Co-owner and President of a major sports arena and professional Hockey franchise in a major city.

I have beautiful daughter and wife whom I love and who loves me in return. I enjoy a good ole American home life (food, fire, fun, etc.) while sharing yoga and yogic living with individuals from all walks of life is my focus and my passion.

Unlike most yogi’s, I’ve blended a career as a successful businessman in America with a devoted Japa Yoga practice while prospering in the American working world.

Oh yes, failures in businesses have happened.  Some controversy with an American Hero including all the press & media hoopla that comes with high profile ups and downs.  The courage, clarity, and the imagination to engage the challenge was fueled by my boundless Japa Yoga experience.

Further, the ability to manifest dreams with clarity and regularity were made possible by the techniques of Japa Yoga.

MY YOGA AND YOGI EXPERIENCE
I was fortunate to begin a daily yoga at age 15. My daily meditation practice (Transcendental Meditation TM) started at at age 17 when I was formally initiated. I have been a devotee of the Maharishi Movement since 1973. I was initiated and granted passage into the rites of the Siddis (hence title siddha) in 1985. I have over 15,000 hours of meditation and over 14,000 consecutive days of asana practice. For 3 years I was on staff  for Maharishi at the Maharishi International University.  I have instructed Japa Yoga full time for nearly 15 years with over 200,000 students, 14,000 hours of formal instruction and several trips to India on Yogic Pilgrimages.

Further, I have produced TV features on yoga in over 30 different subject-matter.  I was  the official “yogi of record” for The Arnold Classic (Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger).
I have trained world class athletes including Olympians, NFL, NBA, golf, etc…but most importantly and of greatest interest to me…

I HAVE INSTRUCTED YOGA TO REAL PEOPLE LIVING IN AMERICA!!

Come join my crusade to bring yoga to the home yoga practices of America.
